How to Fit Blogging Into Your Daily Life

How to Fit Blogging Into Your Daily Life

I was deeply convicted (and motivated) after recently reading a great article from Social Media Examiner about how to constantly produce quality blog content and practical ways to fit blogging into your daily life.

I am a blogger by nature but since starting my business earlier this year I have let other things pull me away from blogging.

It’s not that I don’t have time to blog, I simply haven’t made it a priority in my business like I should. And I am willing to bet it’s the same situation for your business too.

Someone once told me there isn’t a shortage of time, but rather a lack of priorities.

There are many things my business that suck up my time and produce little to no results. However, blogging is NOT one of those activities. There are HUGE rewards that can come from blogging. With a well-written, consistently updated blog at the core of your overall social media strategy you can expect to experience things like increased web traffic, increased search engine visibility, and higher sales.

In addition, blogging is also a great way to hone your writing skills while making a connection with your customers.

Blogging is one of the MOST EFFECTIVE marketing tools a company has, so doesn’t it deserve a little more time and effort?

Heck yes it does!

Here are some improvements I am going to make in my life so that I can work blogging into my daily routine.

  • Block out time & commit: I’ve physically blocked out 1 hour blocks of time in my schedule 3-4 days per week. I’ve label the time slot BLOGGING: NOT NEGOTIABLE and fully committed this time to myself and t0 my business.
  • Get ahead: I am going to use the weekends to get ahead a week or two on drafting blog posts so that I am never left scrambling should an emergency come up.
  • Utilize guest bloggers: I am lining up a handful of marketing pros who will be guest blogging a few times a month. This helps lighten the load for me, while giving the guest bloggers enhanced visibility and expanding their reader base.
  • Video Blog: My husband is starting a Camaro-enthusiast blog/website and he reminded me that video blogging is a great way to work blogging into a packed schedule. It’s so easy to pick up a Flip-cam or use the camera on your Macbook to shoot an engaging 2-min video on a relevant topic.

If I stick to these methods I have a feeling that you are going to be reading many more digital marketing blog posts in the near future.

What are some other ways you make sure you get blogging time each week?

Thank you for sharing this great information.

I agree with your friend “there isn’t a shortage of time, but rather a lack of priorities.” I find for myself I tend to put off what I do not enjoy, that is how I know I do not enjoy it. Alas, as it is true with blogging. Blogging is a labor of love for me. I want to blog, I love the since of accomplishment and I am honored when others see value in the content.

Thank you for reminding me to post on my blog!
